4. Managing Profiles (profiles)
Aliases: profile, pr, p
A profile is a named, saved connection (server + credentials) stored in ~/.panctl/profiles.toml. Profiles let you switch between multiple VDURA systems (e.g., lab vs. production) without re-authenticating each time. All profiles commands are purely local; they never contact the appliance.
| Command | Purpose |
|---|---|
profiles list |
List all saved profiles and which one is active |
profiles show [name] |
Show details of the active (or named) profile |
profiles use <name> |
Switch the active profile |
$ panctl profiles list
NAME IN USE SERVER USERNAME AUTHENTICATED
default false http://localhost:8000 finch/alice true
gcp true https://gcp.example.com:8000 - false
$ panctl profiles use gcp
now using profile "gcp"
There is no profiles create or profiles delete command: - To create a profile, log in with a new name: panctl auth login --profile <name> <server>. - To remove a profile, log out of it: panctl auth logout --profile <name>.
You can also point a single command at a different profile without switching your default or override it entirely via environment variable:
panctl --profile prod volumes list
PANCTL_PROFILE=prod panctl volumes list
